What is it?

The Festival of Discovery is a series of workshops, talks and taster sessions of innovative and exciting ways of learning, teaching, growing and developing, empowering people to succeed in their ambitions and aspirations.

As a team of highly qualified specialists from the UK, we will offer different activities and opportunities for different audiences: There will be hands-on experiences with participant involvement, as well as talks and other events, exploring the topics of education, self-development, leadership and more.

Suggested Activities:

1. Creating Freedom: Innovative learning through theatre workshops

Multiple outcomes through training in the proven methodology of “The Science of Acting” – language skills as well as self-confidence, awareness and more.

In this theatre class, acting is not the goal but the vehicle to self-discovery and empowerment – allowing people to take on another character’s perspective. It enhances interpersonal and social skills and provides tools that can be used in everyday life.

  • In the morning, we train a group of adults in the method of acting that Creating Freedom This can be anyone who will be able to apply this technique in their lives, e.g. teachers, parents, carers, project workers, students, educators.
  • In the afternoon, they apply what they learned by teaching a group of children and young people this special method of acting.
  • After 5 to 7 days, a performance takes place. It will be in English and provides the opportunity to show what they achieved within a few days to the parents, family, community members and everyone involved.
  • Apart from on the stage, there are opportunities to be involved in other aspects such as making the costumes, stage, sound etc.

For min. 6 adults and a group of 12 children to be part of the project.

2. Positive Change Initiative: “Removing Barriers to Development” 

A series of workshops, coaching sessions, talks and other activities focussing on self-development, leadership, education and other relevant topics, empowering people in their lives to “be the change they want to see in the world” (Ghandi).

Examples:

  • Group coaching sessions for other ‘changemakers’, for example conservationists, educators, entrepreneurs etc. People who want to explore how to be powerful and produce results in what they want to achieve in the world and in their lives.
  • Facilitated working sessions around leadership, development, teamwork, management, communication, business, campaigns and more.
  • Q&A sessions and round table discussions around ‘hot topics’
  • Outreach part of the programme – i.e. in other locations, longevity

3. English Encounters: Exploring English in New Ways

Language learning in small groups and interactive experiences. 

  • Themed language learning projects such as book clubs, business language, movie club, English Literature.
  • Life Skills lessons – to be identified according to interest, i.e. computer skills, writing skills, Business English, Project Planning etc.
  • Open discussion groups and themed conversations

4. The Conservation Conversation: Connecting, Networking & More

Empowering changemakers, campaigners, influencers, activists, educators.

  • Engage conservationists and create a space in which we raise awareness, educate, gain exposure, learn from each other, connect and discover new opportunities for action.
  • Option to facilitate an event for mutual benefit of all charities involved to discover the power of team work and collaboration.
  • Identify a conservation project that can be contributed to with hands on support.

5. Die Filmbauarbeiter (Multimedia): Filming of a Documentary of the Festival

Explore English through the world of Film. Opportunity to be involved in the making of a documentary of the project, providing experience in film making, camera, sound, post production and much more.

6. Soundscapes: Exploring World Music

Engage in language through music.

Music Discovery Workshops to explore both local and foreign music, generate new sounds through mixing traditional and modern, Eastern and Western, old and new.  Collaboration with radio station possible.
